Swiss Edition v2.0 · September 2026

ACO in Switzerland:
market, law, practice.

Agentic Commerce Operations is the software category for AI agents that run an online shop on the operator side. This edition shows what the category means in practice for Swiss shops above CHF 500,000 in online revenue: six payment routes with their own failure patterns, three national languages in one order flow, the revFADP instead of the GDPR, and commerce data that stays in Geneva and Zurich.

Three Swiss anchors

What a Swiss shop operates differently.

01
Payment routes

Six routes, six failure patterns.

TWINT, PostFinance Card and E-Finance, Datatrans, SIX Saferpay, Payrexx and the card acquirer each respond differently. A missing callback, an expired session or a broken handshake looks like a quiet hour in the shop admin. An ACO agent reads the providers' response codes and callbacks and switches to the fallback provider within the policy.

02
revFADP

Swiss law first.

The revised Federal Act on Data Protection has applied since 1 September 2023, supervised by the FDPIC. Shops serving EU customers carry the GDPR on top. An ACO system has to serve both: read-only access, an audit log per action and transparency about which data is processed in which zone.

03
Data residency

Geneva and Zurich, not Frankfurt.

Purchase prices, margins, stock levels and product IP belong under Swiss law. The reference implementation keeps them at Infomaniakin Geneva and Zurich, while reasoning runs at an EU-certified cloud provider in the Frankfurt region. What matters is not where the server stands but which law binds the provider. The US CLOUD Actdoes not reach into the critical zone.

Swiss edition

What this edition is.

One category, three editions

The category is defined in one place. The Definition of Agentic Commerce Operationslives in the category paper v2.0, published by DevQonin Zurich. This site does not repeat it. It answers the questions Swiss operators ask next: which payment routes must the agent know, what does the revFADP require, where does the data live, and how do I know after three months whether it paid off?

Enterprise operators with multi-store setups, compliance load and tenders have their own edition at agentic-commerce-ops.com.

Six chapters
Swiss market

Why operations matter now.

Swiss online retail 2025

Swiss consumers bought goods worth CHF 15.8 billion online in 2025, 6 percent more than the year before. CHF 13 billion of that went to Swiss providers. Source: HANDELSVERBAND.swisswith NIQ/GfK and Swiss Post, March 2026.

What that means for operations

Every hour in which a payment route fails silently or a price indexer serves stale prices costs a share of that market. A dashboard shows it on Friday. An ACO agent acts on Tuesday at 07:14 within the policy the operator has set.

HANDELSVERBAND.swiss Summit 2026

On 3 September 2026 Swiss retail met at Westhive Zurich. XEREBRO was speaker sponsor and brought the operator side of agentic commerce on stage. Recap: summit article on xerebro.ch.

Execution model

The operator sets the framework and policies, the agent acts autonomously within them, every action is logged, abort at any time. Without a policy the agent waits for a click. That satisfies human oversight under EU AI Act Article 14for shops with EU customers.

Next step

The next step is an appointment, not a contract.

The health check takes thirty minutes, remote or on site in Zurich. Before the appointment a DevQon commerce specialist analyses your shop with read-only access. In the session you get two to four findings with a CHF uplift estimate and log excerpt. Then you decide freely. No contract, no sales pressure, a data processing agreement under the revFADP before onboarding.
